TRASH HEAPS

“SOUNDAYS:” MARCH 19th 2023

Heaps of Trash was a performance hosted by SOUNDAYS & The Studio Troy (2213 5th Avenue) on Sunday March 19th at 5pm. Heaps of Trash was performed by PhD Art student and food stylist, Allie Wist and musician / entomologist Lisa Shonberg. Our founder (Oliver) helped put together an installation addressing the current water supply and sink hole disaster in Troy. Allie foraged fresh asphalt that would otherwise go to waste to set up the foundation for our weird trashy food installation. Check out Allie’s project “Eating Climate Change Through The Flood and Drought.”

The installation included chocolate “pebbles,” licorice “asphalt,” malted “stones,” and cherry “dirt.” Guests at the event were at first apprehensive about these curious trashy snacks but slowly started to interact with the display as if it was the hour dourves table at a gala.

With a backdrop of Lisa’s entomological sound and Allie’s videography and a performance by Connor Armbruster and Evan Marre, this sensorially immersive event is sure to repeat itself in various alterations. Stay tuned to this blog for future events or follow The Studio Troy on Instagram.
